Terms of Use

1. Subject Matter

MyLocalSafe is software for the local, encrypted storage of passwords and documents. The app merely provides the tool for encryption and management. No user data is stored on any servers operated by the provider.

2. Master Password and Personal Responsibility

No access

Because MyLocalSafe operates on the principle of maximum data security, the provider has no access to the master password according to the state of the art. If the user forgets or loses the master password, the data cannot be recovered.

Duty of care

The user alone is responsible for keeping the master password safe and for regularly creating backups of the encrypted vault files outside the app (e.g. on external storage media).

3. License Terms

• The user is granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, and indefinite right to use the app on private or business devices.
• The app must not be decompiled, reverse-engineered, or distributed in modified form, unless mandatorily permitted by law.

4. In-App Purchases (Premium Version)

Premium features are purchased via Google Play Billing. The terms of use and sales policies of Google apply in addition. A purchase contract is formed between the user and the provider (Jörg Schambeck).

5. Warranty and Limitation of Liability

Exclusion of liability for data loss

The provider is not liable for the loss of data caused by forgetting the master password, damage to the device, or improper handling of the export functions.

Limitation of liability

Liability for slightly negligent breaches of duty is excluded, unless these concern material contractual obligations (cardinal obligations) or damages resulting from injury to life, body, or health.

Statutory provisions

Liability under the Product Liability Act and other mandatory statutory provisions remains unaffected.

Availability

100% availability or freedom from errors cannot be guaranteed according to the state of the art.

6. Changes to These Terms

The provider reserves the right to adapt these Terms of Use in response to changes in the app or legal requirements. The respective current version is always available in the app.

7. Final Provisions

The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. Should individual provisions of these terms be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected.
